The stein is made of glass - black glass. The trim –stripping on the bottom, the crest, and the wording of the poem are in gold – standsout against the black glass.

Thisstein has a pewter lid and poem on one side.

Withone exception - this stein is in excellent condition. The exception is that thelid is loose. Not loose like vintage steins that wiggle from side-to-side –this stein has no wiggle from side-to-side. It is like the glue(?) has stoppedholding the lid in place where it is attached to the handle. I have tried toshow this in the pictures. I believe that if an adhesive were applied thatwould go away. But that is not my place to do that – I do not have thatexpertise. As I stated, if this ventes exceptionnelles were corrected this would be in excellentcondition.

There are no chips or cracks.

This stein is “used”. I bought it used, but Ihave never used it in the 20-25 years I have owned it.

The poem reads:

The wonderful love of a beautiful maid,

And the love of a staunch true man,

And the love of a baby unafraid,

Have existed since life began;

But the greatest love, the love of love,

Even greater than that of a mother,

Is the tender, passionate, infinite love

Of one drunken sot for another.
