Stunning figurine of hunting Blue Kingfisher, about to dive for fish. The bird is captured moments before entering the waters - its wings are being pressed along the stretched body, beak straight, this kingfisher looks like a spear about to pierce the water surface in pursuit of a fish deep down. The bird is attached to the base that looks like the choppy waves of the pond, by the bamboo stems.
An excellent hunter, this kingfisher is masterfully captured right at the time when its just about to attack its prey. The bird looks hyper realistic thanks tothe highly dynamic pose, great attention to the detail and hand painting in exceptionally vivid realistic colours. The reproduction of the birds plumage is totally captivating. I must confess I have never seen as beautifully rendered plumage as on this kingfisher.
Chapeau toHutschenreuther, a world famous German porcelain manufacturer! Founded in 1814, it specialized in producing small quantities of highest quality porcelainitems. This specific piece was made by the Art Department of theHutschenreuthersfactory in Selb, that was acquired in 1917.Currently part of the Rosenthal Group.
The kingfisher was modelledbyHans Achtziger,a world class designer and porcelain modeller, who received top of class artistic education, before joiningHutschenreuther, and eventually becoming adirector of the art department atHutschenreuther(1961-1964), afterwards heading the form and decoration studio.
Stamped to the bottom withunderglaze Hutschenreuther Selb signature, oval with lion and LHS letters, GERMANY mark and Kunstabteilung (Art Department) manufacturer mark in green, that was used since 1955 to 1968, and signed ACHZIGER in capital incised letters.

Returns
Returns are accepted within 30 days from item receipt. Refunds will be made after return of the item in original condition.
