DESCRIPTION
First thus, the first large paper edition. Limited edition, number 173 of 700.
Written by Count Grammonts brother-in-law Antoine Hamilton. Count de Grammont was the younger half-brother of Antoine III of Grammont and uncle of Catherine Charlotte de Grammont, Princess of Monaco.
This work is illustrated by thirty-four etchings on India paper by C Delort.
The biography of Count Grammont was first published in 1731 after its composition between 1704 and 1710. It is believed that some of the work was written at Grammonts dictation. The publication of the biography made Hamilton one of the classic writers of France.
This particular edition has been edited with notes by Sir Walter Scott.
