What is Nagoya Obi?
The Nagoya obi was invented by Haruko Koshihara of the Nagoya Girls School in the Taisho era (1912-1926) to be worn with a kimono, and is a simplified version of the Fukuro obi that can be tied with a single drum. It is named after the fact that it was invented in Nagoya.There are various types of Nagoya obis, depending on the material, pattern, and tailoring method, and they are worn in different situations.Nagoya obis are more casual and suitable for everyday use than fukuro obis, but depending on the pattern, they can also be used for semi-formal occasions.
